DECOR8

Towel #3 The Little Prince.

What do you think of my latest creation?
The Little Prince, Or Le Petit Prince is a fantastic little story written in French by Antoine de Saint-ExupĂ©ry. It has been translated into 180 languages. If you haven't ever read it do yourself a favor and pick up a copy.

Below is the book's primary cover art, and my inspiraton.
How do you think I did?
This project too quite a bit of time, and I'm quite pleased with it! I'll be putting this one up in my coming-soon-etsy shop!

Happy Birthday Everyone!

I love my co-workers!
I mean, I SERIOUSLY love my co-workers!
We generally hang out every weekend. We have ridiculous dance parties. We make lame dance parties awesome. No viral youtube video will get past us! And there is an unspoken NO DRAMA policy, which is pretty much the best thing ever! No such policy has ever been maintained in this workplace* before. (*company name withheld)

All of our birthdays are between March and July. So I hosted a "happy birthday everyone" party at my place. We got each other 1$ gifts.

The lovely Paige, who made my wedding cake iced this baby in fifteen miniutes flat. She is a rockstar!

And this is my wedding cake in case anyone wanted to see!

Meditation Session 1

After way too long of daily headaches and with no other solutions my doctor said I needed to meditate every day in order to relax.

That was on monday. I fail.

So tonight I really tried meditating. I went for the Elizabeth Gilbert via Eat Pray Love version of meditation. Her friend, the wise old Ketut, told Liz that to practice Balinese meditation she should sit and just smile. (Eh, I read that book four years ago, I'm totally basing this off the movie.) I have always remembered reading in Malcom Gladwell's Blink that smiling actually makes you feel happier. It has something to do with the muscles used and chemicals and such. Read about it in better words here! This is why I tried smiling meditation!

I sat on my huge beanbag, crossed my legs and smilied.

It was hard to stop myself from thinking about all the things I felt like I needed to get done.
...vacuum all the strings from sewing on the carpet
..... deadbolt the front door.
....... pick up the fifteen magazines laying on the floor. Etc.
Overall it was relaxing and I did enjoy it! After 30 minutes I was in a really good mood, and I've had a fabulous evening since!

I hope session 2 goes as well!

Being sick for many weeks on end has zapped me of all creativity.

I have enjoyed watching almost all 100 episodes of this weird show. (I'm on 89)
Bleach

Don't judge me because I spend my lazy couch sick days watching anime. I'm not really into anime that much, but I stumbled onto this in my netflicks "view instantly" and lets just say I've been desperate for things to fill my time.

Hopefully there will be someting exciting to post soon.

Ray Ban

I have joined the ranks of the glassed ones. Just call me four eyes.

These are my awesome Ray Bans. They are red on the inside and I really like that.

Also, I wanted to show off this skirt that I made this week. I should probably take some more pics of it.

Towel #2 "M"

Here is my second attempt at towel decoration!

I think the embroidery turned out quite nicely! It's much more smooth than on my bicycle towel.
It was much better to embroider without cross-stitch fabric attached. As you can see.
I'm pleased with how it turned out!
It's simple, but nice I think.

What do you think? I'd love any feedback. Things like this may be popping up in an etsy shop soon!

I am SWITCHING MY BLOG ADDRESS so if you follow me in a reader, this will be the last post you see!

Towel #1

This is the first towel I decorated, if you remember I posted earlier about anthropologie towels, and how I wanted to make them.

Here is my first one:

I like it. I tried the -attach cross stich fabric, embroider on top, and then painstakingly shread and remove it- method, and it did not work to my advantage! I'll just free-hand the embroidery next time.

My Hilarious Sister.

A few weeks ago my sister asked me to film her for this video. She is an aspiring mash-up artist. Well the most famous (in her opinion) mash-up artist asked for people to send in videos of themselves dancing for this song. Her video made the cut! woohoo!

She is the one dancing in front of a yellowish wall with a framed picture of of a cartoon Robin and Batman picture in the black T and jeans.

Watch it to the end.
Yep. That one.

*Sarcastic tears* I'm so proud of you fulfilling your dream sister!
No but really, I think it's cool.
