Hello I love you.
Hello World, Yes I am alive!
Here are some pretty pretty things to look at.
Enjoy.
I know it's super bad blogging manners not to post where these are from. eeps. Sorry. I'm going to do it anyway. forgive me.
So, I actually worked at an interior design firm for one day. It was not exactly like I expected. A lot more paperwork and not much designing. I guess those are just the facts of life in almost any field.
xo

80S, The Man with one Red Shoe
I went for another Tom Hanks movie today, The Man with One Red Shoe. Released in 1985, this movie is an amusing story of the CIA going a little too far. One goofy violinist, Richard (Tom Hanks) is arbitrarily chosen as a major target and threat to the CIA. There is a basic love story (and one seriously sexy dress) with Richard and a CIA agent, Maddy (not a very good spy name if you ask me.) The ending is just for all the characters involved.
I laughed a lot during this movie. There were some seriously funny parts. This movie is extremely similar to The Man Who Knew too Little, but it much less over the top. As funny as that movie is, I think I prefer this one. I enjoyed this movie, It was more re-watchable than the last move I reviewed, The Burbs. I would watch this again with friends, but I'm not dying to replay it by any means.

80s update, The Burbs
Yes, The Burbs.
I pulled this movie off the library shelf and rented it for two reasons. 1-Tom Hanks on the cover. I do really like him. 2- the 1989 release date.
The movie was mainly about the recently moved it,creepy "neighbors from Hell." From the cover I expected one of those "how could things get any worse" movies about a nice guy who gets frustrated, and more frustrated and so on... But actually it was a lot better than that with an ok plot and mystery. The creepy neighbors get more and more suspicious as the movie goes on, and Tom Hanks and his buddies cannot leave the situation alone. A little digging leads to much more digging- literally. While it was predictable I still wanted to watch it through the end.
Couldn't say I would recommend it to every one, but I don't regret the 101 minutes I spent watching.

80s education.
So, Yes, I am obsessed with 80s movies.
It is official.
I am constantly trying to get my hands on the best movies made in the 80s. 93% of all 80s movies were released before I was born. (well assuming that there is a equal distribution throughout the year of when movies are released- which is, of course, not true.)
I love the 80s. I think the conglomeration of styles patterns and changes that happened in the 80s gave rise to the "create your own style" that we see today.
I re-watched the Back to the Future trilogy this week. i loved it. Matthew Fox and Christopher Lloyd. Was a seriously unbeatable team. My favorite part was when they visit the year 2015. The styles were super ridiculous. It seemed far into the future then, just as 2040 does to us now.
This is what the screenplay depicted the future as....
(notice the flying train engines on the Doc's "futuristic" shirt! -shout out to the third installment in the trilogy.)
Ok so seriously, what do you think the year 2040 will be like?
I think that we will drown in electronic cords for things that need to be charged. Hopefully we will have a cleaner energy source, especially for cars. I unfortunately think that Paper books will be a novelty item, bordering on obsolete. (I am sad about this. No matter how cool the Kindle and the Ipad are, I just still LOOOOVVVVEEE shelves lined with books!) I seriously don't even want to think about what popular music will sound like in 2040. but I think that the tree decades preceeding the year 2040 will bring us unimaginable electronic change. unimaginable. But it will be a reality.
Don't you agree?

(PS I'm open to many suggestions for 80s movies- the education will continue!)

Dear Molly Ringwald
I am obsessed with you.
Seriously, there was nothing better tonight than watching fantastic 80s movies wrapped up in big blankets with Grapes and Macadamia nuts. is that oddly specific? Well sorry if it is.
What are you favorite 80s movies? I think I want to have a marathon. I mean a serious marathon. Ghostbusters, Sixteen Candles, Labyrinth, Back to the Future. (all of them).
Who wants to join me?

Hand-crafted
Can you believe that it is humanly possible to hand drape these felt hats?
GorgeousImagine how wonderful it would be to be able to start with a piece of felt and end up with one of these masterpieces. I tried googling "Utah hat-making classes" to no avail. Dang. Does anyone know anyting about hatmaking?
Well I can always admire these peices by Behida Dolić.
Thank Behida for making the world a little more beautiful.
